4 Carbondale Potato Days. Black Nugget, 9PM.
Enjoy a day of good ol' fashioned FUN!  Potato Day is the community's oldest festival, having originated in 1909. The festival was begun by Carbondale's businesses to express thanks to the local farmers and ranchers at the end of the autumn potato harvest. The current celebration reminds modern day residents of the town's historic place at the center of what was once one of the largest potato growing regions in the country. Home gardeners are now about the only ones who still grow potatoes in the area, but the tradition remains as a reminder of the past. It takes place in the fall and coincides with our highschool homecoming celebrations. There's a parade, BBQ in Sopris Park, live music, a rodeo, and harvest goods for sale. >>Potato day event info
